Clear-span warehouses, manufacturing plants and industrial facilities, engineered for heavy use.
Warehouses and industrial buildings are where pre-engineered steel shines. Rigid frames span well over 100 feet without columns, clear heights accommodate high racking and cranes, and the whole structure goes up quickly so your operation starts sooner.
Meta Steel Buildings delivers warehouse and industrial facilities across Ontario and Canada, from regional distribution warehouses to manufacturing plants with overhead cranes, with engineering, fabrication, foundations, permits and erection handled by one team.
What we build

Why steel
Clear spans and high eaves give you maximum floor area and cubic storage. We plan bay spacing around your racking, frame for cranes and mezzanines, and design the slab for forklift and racking loads.
Wide open floors for racking, equipment and production flow.
20–36 ft+ clearances for high-bay racking and sprinklers.
Engineered for bridge cranes and heavy collateral loads.
Designed so future additions simply bolt on.
Every building is engineered for its site and use. These are the ranges we see most often, to help you plan.
| Common widths | 60–200 ft clear span; larger footprints with modular interior columns |
|---|---|
| Clear heights | 20–36 ft+ to suit racking and sprinkler requirements |
| Bay spacing | Typically 20–30 ft, matched to racking and dock layout |
| Doors & docks | Dock-high doors with levelers, plus grade-level drive-in doors |
| Cranes | Bridge, monorail and jib cranes with crane-rated frames and foundations |
| Expansion | Expandable end walls so future additions bolt on |
An industrial building is a tool for your operation. Start from the work inside it: what you store or make, how materials move, what equipment needs power, air or crane coverage, and how trucks get in and out. The building size, clear height and door layout follow from those answers.
Clear height is the space below the lowest structure, and it sets how high you can rack. Modern distribution buildings often use 28–36 ft. Sprinkler clearances count against that height, so plan racking and fire protection together. Our warehouse buyer's guide covers this step by step.
Clear-span frames give you a completely open floor, which suits manufacturing, cranes and changing layouts. Modular frames add interior columns and are usually more economical for very wide warehouses where columns can sit between racking rows. More in our clear-span steel buildings guide.
If you'll ever want an overhead crane, include it in the original design. Crane loads affect the frame, the runway beams and the foundations, and adding a crane to a building that wasn't designed for one is expensive or impossible.

A pre-engineered steel building with clear-span or modular frames, designed around your racking layout, clear height, dock doors and local snow loads.
Pre-engineered rigid frames can span well over 100 feet column-free. For very large footprints, modular frames with a few interior columns aligned to rack aisles are often more economical.
Yes. Frames, crane runways and foundations are engineered for the crane capacity, as long as the crane is included in the original design.
It depends on your racking and sprinklers. Small warehouses often work with 20–24 ft, while modern distribution buildings typically use 28–36 ft clear height. Plan racking and fire protection together before fixing the height.
Yes. Pre-engineered buildings can be designed with expandable end walls and foundations planned for future bays, so an addition bolts onto the existing frame.
